Two friends shook hands in 1992, vowing to split the winnings if either of them won the Powerball jackpot.

Well, as you might guess… that’s exactly what happened.

Tom Cook and Joe Feeney split the $22 million won in a ticket purchased by Tom of Elk Mound, Wisconsin. He said he was ‘frozen’ when he realized he had the winning ticket.

He called his good buddy to share the exciting news and Joe couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “He called me and I said, ‘are you jerking my bobber?’’ recalls Joe.

“A handshake’s a handshake,” said Tom and he wasn’t about to go back on his word.

They will each receive nearly $6 million after taxes and both said they have no big plans, but are looking forward to enjoying more time with family.

Tom wasted no time on making family and retirement a priority — he gave his two weeks notice right away.

“I can’t think of a better way to retire,” Tom responded.

One thing they do plan to change is their mode of transportation. The two friends and their wives previously went on road trips in a small PT Cruiser convertible. In the future, they plan to update to something a little more comfortable.

We certainly with them the best.
