Yulin 2020 Lychee and Dog Meat Festival Picture 1

This Sunday, June 21 marks the summer solstice in China and the start of another repugnant Yulin Dog Meat Festival where 1000’s of Dogs and Cats will be slaughtered

The Yulin Festival created in 2009 to usher in and, celebrate the start of the summer solstice. In reality, the whole festival was simply a money-making scheme that was thought up by Yulin officials.

But a story we did on another website WildlifePlanet.net shows the horrible toll this reprehensible festival takes on the poor Innocent animals that are lucky enough to escape the Yulin butchers.

The picture below shows the fear and hopelessness that these poor innocent animals in Yulin go through.

The picture of a cat named Huru made the world aware that the Yulin Dog and Cat meat festival was only celebrating death, and not a ‘celebration of China’s history’ as the defenders of the Yulin Festival claim.

The Yulin Dog Meat Festival

The Yulin Festival which begins on the summer solstice each year, and runs a total of ten days. And during that time thousands of cats and dogs are brutally slaughtered for food.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then anyone seeing this photo could write a novel just on the fear in Huru’s eyes knowing he understood the gravity of his situation.

One look at Huru would tell you he knew he was facing certain death at the hands of these abhorrent Yulin butchers.

While Huru was desperately trying to escape his fate, the photo also made us feel as helpless as he was.

Any person seeing this photo would believe that it would have taken a miracle to save him.

But luckily, Huru had a guardian angel on this day that granted him a last-second reprieve.

Huru’s angel came in the form of a The Humane Society International (HSI) volunteer.

HSI is one of the biggest organizations fighting to end the abhorrent cat and dog meat consumption not only in Yulin, China but throughout South-East Asia.

HSI saved Huru but, he was one of the rare few who escaped the Yulin slaughterhouses.

Peter Li, HSI’s China Policy Specialist, and a leading voice to end the Yulin Festival, sent out an update on Huru.

Here is a quick update of that poor Chinese cat who was clinging to the wire wall in a slaughterhouse in Yulin, looking absolutely miserable, scared, and emaciated.
His name is Huru rescued by Humane Society International and arrived in the U.S. and was adopted by a beautiful lady Jane in Virginia and has lived a happy life ever since.
No more horror, no more hunger, and no more nightmare. Huru loves watching TV and plays hide and seek.
He is leading a bourgeois life and enjoying every moment in his loving home in Virginia Cats are companion, NOT food.
